HIGH-POWER MICROSCOPES

Mayfield Smiles uses high-power microscopes, which allow us to see where we’re working and deliver more precise results. These microscopes direct a beam of light off of them into the mouth and reduce the glare to patients. These precise tools minimize vibration and noise, making the environment more comforting for the patient. 

DIGITAL IMAGING

Digital imaging allows us to see through the skin, gum tissue, etc., things the naked eye cannot see, enabling us to get valuable diagnostic information. Mayfield Smiles doctors use digital imaging to detect cavities between teeth, analyze the bone level and health of the bone, examine roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, and assess any damage when trauma to the mouth occurs. Mayfield Smiles doctors follow the strict guidelines and carefully choose the type and determine when radiographs are taken.

With digital imaging, exposure time is about 50 percent less when compared to traditional radiographs. Typically, we can analyze and see cavities better with digital imaging and have the convenience of quickly transferring these images to insurance companies or specialists.

INTRAORAL CAMERA

Intraoral camera technology helps and enhances our patient’s understanding of their diagnosis. This small camera allows our doctors to analyze clear and high-quality images of our patients' mouths to diagnose accurately. Tiny details, easily looked over by the naked eye, are clear, detailed, and enlarged in these images by an intraoral camera. The best part - less time out of your day in our office and a faster diagnosis!

When our office utilizes intraoral camera technology, we can save these images as permanent records. Upon request, we are able to print these images for you, specialists, or insurance companies.
